Chemistry Lab is an offline-first curated dating and social events platform for professionals aged 35 and over.

2. What Data We Collect and Why
We collect personal data only where we have a lawful basis to do so. Below is a full account of the data we collect, why we collect it, and the legal basis for each type of processing.
2.1 Website Usage Data
What: IP address, browser type, pages visited, time spent on site, referring URL. Collected automatically when you visit chemistrylab.singles.
Why: To maintain and improve our website and understand how visitors use it.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 90 days, then deleted.
2.2 Waitlist and Contact Data
What: First name, email address, city.
Why: To notify you when Chemistry Lab launches in your city and to respond to enquiries.
Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — you actively submitted this information. Retention: Until you unsubscribe or request deletion.
2.3 Membership Intake Data
What: The following categories of personal data collected during your AI intake conversation with Lena or Max:
Basic information: Name, age, city, language preference
Relationship preferences: Relationship goals, children preferences, relationship structure
Lifestyle data: Work sector, active interests, cultural interests, social style, weekend habits, screen time habits, travel style, media consumption habits, lifestyle energy
Values data: Gender role preferences, financial philosophy, education preferences, income attitudes
Relationship history and readiness data: Relationship history, attachment behaviour patterns, conflict resolution style, emotional availability, relationship desires
Event preferences: Types of events preferred, specific interests
Why: To match you with compatible people and appropriate events. This is the core purpose of Chemistry Lab.
Legal basis: Consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) — you explicitly consent to this processing during the intake conversation.
Retention: For the duration of your membership plus 12 months. If you delete your account, data is deleted within 30 days except where legal obligations require longer retention.
Important: Some of the data above — specifically data about your relationship history, emotional patterns, and personal values — may constitute special category data under GDPR Article 9. We process this data only with your explicit consent, which you provide during the intake process.
2.4 Identity Verification Data (Biometric Data)
What: A photograph of your identity document and a live selfie photograph used for face-matching purposes.
Why: To verify that you are who you say you are before attending Chemistry Lab events. This protects the safety of all members.
Legal basis: Explicit consent (Art. 6(1)(a) and Art. 9(2)(a) GDPR) — you provide explicit consent before verification begins.
Who processes it: Your verification data is processed by our identity verification partner Didit (didit.me). Chemistry Lab does not store your biometric data directly. Only the outcome of verification (verified: yes/no) is stored in our member database.
Retention: Verification records are retained for 24 months then permanently deleted. You may request earlier deletion.
2.5 Event Attendance Data
What: Which events you attended, your post-event feedback responses, connections you made at events.
Why: To improve event curation and to facilitate introductions between members.
Legal basis: Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — attendance records are necessary to deliver the service you signed up for. Retention: For the duration of your membership plus 12 months.
2.6 Payment Data
What: Billing information processed through our payments partner Stripe. Chemistry Lab does not store card numbers or full payment details.
Why: To process your membership subscription payments.
Legal basis: Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Retention: As required by applicable financial regulations (typically 7–10 years for billing records).
2.7 Communications Data
What: Emails you send to us, feedback you provide, support requests.
Why: To respond to your enquiries and improve our service.
Legal basis: Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). Retention: 3 years from last contact, then deleted.
3. Special Category Data
Chemistry Lab processes the following special categories of personal data as defined in GDPR Article 9:
Biometric data: Photographs used for identity verification purposes, processed by our verification partner Didit.
Data concerning personal life and intimate matters: Information about your relationship history, attachment patterns, emotional availability, and relationship goals, collected during the intake conversation.
We process this data only with your explicit, informed consent. You may withdraw this consent at any time by contacting us at privacy@chemistrylab.singles. Withdrawal of consent will result in the termination of your membership as this data is essential to providing the Chemistry Lab service.
We have conducted a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA) for our processing of special category data. This document is available to supervisory authorities upon request.
4. Who We Share Your Data With
We share your data only where necessary to provide the Chemistry Lab service. Below is a complete list of our data processors:
Didit (didit.me)
Purpose: Identity verification and AML screening. Data shared: Identity document photograph, selfie photograph. Location: EU. Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Anthropic (anthropic.com)
Purpose: AI conversation engine powering the Lena and Max intake conversations. Data shared: Your conversation transcript during intake. Location: United States (Standard Contractual Clauses apply). Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Note: Anthropic processes conversation data to generate responses. Chemistry Lab does not use your conversations to train AI models.
Airtable (airtable.com)
Purpose: Member database storage. Data shared: All member profile data from your intake conversation. Location: United States (Standard Contractual Clauses apply). Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Make.com (make.com)
Purpose: Automation of data flows between our tools. Data shared: Member profile data during automated processing. Location: European Union. Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
ElevenLabs (elevenlabs.io)
Purpose: AI voice generation for Lena and Max personas. Data shared: Text of responses generated during your intake. Location: United States (Standard Contractual Clauses apply). Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Softr (softr.io)
Purpose: Member portal website. Data shared: Member profile data for portal display. Location: European Union. Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Stripe (stripe.com)
Purpose: Payment processing. Data shared: Billing and payment information. Location: United States (Standard Contractual Clauses apply). Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Luma (lu.ma)
Purpose: Event page management and RSVPs. Data shared: Name and email for event attendance. Location: United States (Standard Contractual Clauses apply). Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
Framer (framer.com)
Purpose: Website hosting. Data shared: Website usage data (cookies, analytics). Location: European Union. Basis: Data Processing Agreement in place.
We do not sell your personal data to any third party. We do not share your personal data for advertising purposes.
5. Transfers Outside the EEA
Some of our data processors are based in the United States. Where personal data is transferred to the United States or other countries outside the European Economic Area, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including:
Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) approved by the European Commission, and/or reliance on the EU-US Data Privacy Framework where applicable.
Switzerland: Transfers are additionally governed by the Swiss nDSG and FDPIC guidance on international data transfers.

6. Your Rights
Under GDPR and the Swiss nDSG, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:
Right of access: You may request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Right to rectification: You may request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data.
Right to erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data. We will delete your data within 30 days of a valid request, subject to legal retention obligations.
Right to restriction: You may request that we restrict processing of your data in certain circumstances.
Right to data portability: You may request your data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format.
Right to object: You may object to processing based on legitimate interests at any time.
Right to withdraw consent: Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal.
Right not to be subject to automated decision-making: Chemistry Lab uses AI to assist with member matching and conversation. Final matching decisions involve human review. You may request human review of any automated decision affecting you.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@chemistrylab.singles. We will respond within 30 days. In complex cases we may extend this by a further 60 days with notice.
Complaints: If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority.

7. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
Encryption in transit (SSL/TLS) for all data transmissions
Access controls limiting data access to authorised personnel only
Identity verification for all members before event access
AML screening against international watchlists
Regular review of our data processing practices
Confidentiality obligations for all personnel with data access
In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify the relevant supervisory authority within 72 hours and inform affected members without undue delay.
8. Member Self-Declaration
As part of membership, all members explicitly declare that they have no convictions for violent or sexual offences. This self-declaration is stored as part of your member record. Misrepresentation of this declaration is grounds for immediate membership termination and may be reported to relevant authorities.
9. Children
Chemistry Lab is intended exclusively for adults aged 35 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected data from a minor, we will delete it immediately. If you believe a minor has submitted data to us, please contact privacy@chemistrylab.singles immediately.

11. Changes to This Policy
